Dr. Joseph N. Pelton holds a dual appointment as Director of the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program (ITP) at the University of Colorado at Boulder, as well as Director of the Center for Advanced Research in Telecommunications, a laboratory for advanced telecommunications and its impact on society. Prior to his appointment as a full Professor at the University, Dr. Pelton worked in a variety of positions at INTELSAT for the past two decades, including Director of Special Projects, Director of Strategic Policy, and Executive Assistant to the Director General. He has been involved with satellite applications since 1965 in positions with Rockwell International, NASA, Communications Satellite Corporation (COMSAT), George Washington University, and INTELSAT. He is the author of over 200 articles and reviews, as well as 10 books, one of which, Global Talk, was nominated for the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Nonfiction by an American author, and was awarded the 1982 Literature Award by the American Astronautical Society.
