Jason Chao is a Principal in Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services Valuation and Business Modeling practice and is the West Coast market leader of the Capital Equipment Valuation Group. He has led valuation engagements for the purposes of international tax planning, financial reporting (US GAAP, IFRS), federal tax planning, joint ventures, litigation support, property tax, asset based lending, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.  Jason began with Ernst & Young in 1997.

His appraisal background encompasses a variety of industries including:  telecommunications, food and beverage processing, manufacturing, semiconductor, retail, aerospace and defense, service, gaming & entertainment, pulp & paper, healthcare, and chemical processing.  Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Jason was an Industrial Engineer with Cooper Industries and Newell Rubbermaid.  His responsibilities included capital planning, process improvement, manufacturing engineering, production & inventory control, and new product development.

Jason is a CFA charterholder of the Chartered Financial Analyst program of the CFA Institute.   He is also a candidate for an ASA designation in machinery and technical specialties.  He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Engineering at Purdue University and his M.B.A. degree from DePaul University.
